Hey i finally got my mav registered today and took it out for a test drive well i got carried away and launched it with thoes sticky mickey`s and i broke an engine mount .....do they sell solid motor mounts for mavs of will an early mustang mount fit...it felt strong before i launched it ....Heres a pic of my mav before i paint it i think im going with PPG pepper gray metallic with a black hood......
i bought new stock motor mounts from napa for about $14 each. perfect fit. i also have a motor torque strap on the drivers side to keep the motor from lifting up.
thanks for the info ill remove the broken one and compare it to a mustang solid mount if that dont work ill be going to napa for one and home depo for a chain and chain it down..Barry
Great looking car, sorry to hear about your car but...."like they say",If ya wanna play, you gotta pay.....Since your car hooks good, you might consider a set a traction bars along with that solid motor mount.........By the way what did you find out about shipping, send email and let me know.....Hotrod-Daddy
Barry, your car looks HOT! Great job. Now if you want to put the motor mount breakage to bed....put a plate on it :evilsmile it makes for a very "shakie" ride....but you won't break mounts ps: I like that scoop
actually i have a long turnbuckle that bolts to the head on one end and goes through the hole where the sway bar used to be on the other.
Well i bought another mount today and when i got home i inspected the old mount and found the mount thru bolt missing( i know i should have checked it eariler) so i installed another bolt and took it for a spin around the block i did not get on it this time but i felt a terrible vibration so i jacked it up to find that someone had used a 8" rear drive shaft and installed it into a 9" yoke well it doesnt work that way the uni joint is about a 1/4 inch too small...I called the local driveshaft shop and they will modify it tomorrow..This just shows me that you must check other peoples work throughly..And i am inspecting the car totally before i take it out again...Thanks for all the help Barry
You don't really need soild mounts or plates, just good condition factory ones, for street driving. I am running new factory mounts on a 425hp 393 and they are holding up fine. The rubber mounts on my 428cj held up fine too. Unless you are doing some really hard launches or have some serious horsepower, it shouldn't be a big problem. I think some people put the chain in there to look cool. A mildly modified 302 should never come close to needing it.
