I found this sitting under the car after pulling it out of the garage. I've been working on the front brakes and spindles and this is unrelated to that. Any ideas?
looks like a small ball bearing from a hand cart or dolly of some kind. ive never seen a bearing that small on a car. i doubt its from your car.
Muffler bearing?? Seriously, I can't remember much of anything on the mav that has roller bearings. Rear axel bearing? But it wouldn't fail by falling off the car! Also, I can't remember if the axel bearing is roller or ??? I agree with Bryant that it may not be from the car. Would it make sense that something like that would be near/around where you are working on the car?
Lawn mower spindle bearing ( or what's left of it ). Any of the belt idlers on same machine. Possibly wheel bearings from same machine. Since that is an outer race, it is unlikely it " fell " off of something. Do you have any playful kitty's that like to bat stuff around?
Found it. My alternator locked up yesterday. Apparently, that bearing is supposed to go in the back here.
man that surprised me to. seems obvious now that you you found it. ive never seen that happen. you have to wonder about the quality of that chrome alternator
Me either! That has china wrote all over it! It looks just like the upper spindle bearing in my riding mower. I just replaced the China ones with, you guessed it, new China ones. Just for ha ha's see if your alt bearing # is 6202. The only ones I could get ( reasonably close ) were " Peerless ", made in China.
That's alot bigger bearing than I have seen in an alternator.. I guess bigger wasn't better in this "case"
