how is that center emblem put on the seat?? on 71 72 grabbers there was that center silver emblem ....is it glued on???
Nope ... it has two posts that push through the vinyl and then clip on the backside. They cannot be installed or removed without removing the seat cover. I used 67 Mustang Emblems when I had my seats reupholstered ... they are metal and not cheapo plastic like the originals ...
Inserts dmhines take a look at this picture, i tore down 3 bucket seats, neither have clips, looks as if from factory they heated it from BACK , like as... the VINYL MELTED TO THE PLASTIC , thats my guess, notice the coloring around the fabric on the back., like maybe a square hott press....
They are melted on from the factory. Same procedure they use on the chrome plastic trim on the door panels. My upholstry guy just put some stitching in the seat where they go to pull the fabric in and then glued them on.
DM, is the center on yours the original netted material, or did you opt for gray and black vinyl? looks almost exactly like what i "settled" for.
Settle? Nope not me .... it is Factory Original NOS 1971 Maverick ComfortWeave from SMS Fabrics .... $85 per yard ....
grrr. the only comfort weave the upholsterers out here seemed to know about was what they used on late 60 model mustangs and cougars. very different from what mine had in the center.. i have a black white checkerboard material that looks gray from more than a foot. not too bad i guess.
unfortunately, i hadnt found the site yet last yearwhen it was done). its ok to point and laugh, i can take it.
