Are 73 LDO 2 door bucket seat tracks the same as 71/72 2 door highback bucket seat tracks? Thanks, Fred
LDO tracks will make highback buckets basically sit right on the floor ... about 2 or 3 inches lower than stock ... they work great on highbacks for tall drivers ... but suck for short drivers ...
Thanks for the info. I found several Mavericks in some salvage yards this weekend, one 73 LDO with bucket seats, several Comets and a lot of 6 cylinder small bumper cars. Nothing much left but trim items. Most have been there since the early 80's. We did manage to get a complete A/C set up, front disc brakes and a power brake assembly. Fred
Dan, All of the radios were gone. I was looking for the radio mounting plate to use in one of my Econolines. One of the yards in CT had a Maverick radio mounting plate with an AM/FM radio in it. I'm not sure if it was an original Maverick radio and he wouldn't sell me just the mounting plate. He thought it was removed from the same 71 Comet GT I got a set of highback Comfort weave bucket seats and a hood scoop from. One of the places had a 71 Grabber but wouldn't part it out. He didn't seem interested in selling it either. Another yard had just crushed the last 2 V-8 Comets they had, I did get all the good parts off them last year. One of the largest salvage yards here in the Northeast, Curboy's Auto, is closing at the end of the month and crushing all of the cars. They have cars from the 40's to 80's. They had a 72 Comet, 2 76 Comets, 73 Comet, 70 Maverick, 74 Maverick 4 door, and 2 75 Mavericks. Not much left on any of the cars. The 72 Comet could be saved along with one of the 75 Mavericks. The rest are pretty well stripped and rusted out. Over the last few years I had bought all of the V-8 components and small bumpers, valances, spoilers etc. There was an article in the latest issue of Hemmings Muscle Car magazine on this salvage yard and another one last year in CarCraft? They called it the best muscle salvage yard in the country. I have bought complete, restorable cars from them in the past, $500.00 each, 70 Chevelle 350 convertible, 66 Mustang V-8 fastback and a 48 Buick Roadmaster convertible. All of them were restored and on the road today. Fred
Thanks for the info ... I'm always on the lookout for the elusive 70/72 Dealer Option only Am/FM Mono Radio ... next time you need a bezel with one installed ... I'll buy the whole thing and the bezel is yours for free ...
I had one but I threw it out with the trash when I put my cd player in. I didn't figure anyone would want it. Sorry Dan. Now I really hope you didn't fall for that but I had to try anyway.
Dan, Email me a photo of the radio. I will be going back to the salvage yard soon to get some Econoline parts, if the radio is correct I will grab it. Fred
Here is the picture from the service manual. Will have chrome bezel just like a 70/72 AM radio. Will have a single Speaker lead for dash speaker ... just like AMradio. Will fit in 70/72 bezel .. just like AM radio. Will be AM/FM ... chrome slider WILL NOT be marked STEREO .... Thanks ... Dan
Im thinking of using a set of LDO tracks on a set of highbacks I have in the future, you said good for tall drivers what do you consider tall? im about 6'1 does that sound fine or is it going to suck?
I would recommend sitting in a Maverick with High-Back buckets ... if your head is hitting the headliner the LDO tracks will be an improvement. I am not tall ... 5' 10" or so ... and I originally had LDO tracks on my High-back buckets ... and I was sitting uncomfortably low .. I could barely see the hood out in front of the car with the LDO tracks installed.
