Sorry, I know there have been threads on this before, and I searched them, but couldn't seem to find a definitive answer on this question. I will be running 2003 Mustang Cobra brakes on all 4 corners on my Mav. I will require 17" wheels to clear them (didn't know that when I started down this pat!). I know that 17' Mustang Bullit wheels "fit" Mavericks, but what size and type of spacers will I need to use to run them on the street (fairly aggressive driver)? Same question for 18" Bullit wheels. Thanks so much in advance for your inputs. John B
No, actually I don't. I've seen a few cars on the board with these wheels on them, so I thought someone might have this information from first hand experience.
94-04 offset wheels will require a 1" front and at least a 1.5 rear spacer Later models have even more backspace
How are you mounting the disc brakes? If you are using a different spindle or rear axle then the mounting position could be different.
The rears are going to be mounted by way of this kit: http://www.currieenterprises.com/cestore/productsRE.aspx?id=3599 The fronts will be mounted by way of this kit; http://www.mustangsteve.com/cobrabrakes.html "This kit will allow installation of late model 1994-2004 COBRA 13" rotors and calipers onto existing DRUM BRAKE hubs and spindles. Removal of spindles from the car is not necessary."
Thanks Starsky74. Are you running larger-than-stock disc brakes too? If so, what is your set-up? Can you share any details about the type of spacers you are using? Thanks again. John B
Did you go with the Mustang Steve drum spindle kit? If so, how do you like it? Can you share any details about your wheel spacers? Thanks
