Well, I didn't get the 4-door to paint as planned. I like to think that it was because of other family obligations ( family vacation, son's driving school etc.) but I'm beginning to wonder if it's not my helper slowing me up ??? On a side note, the big bumper slide is done. Now to decide wether or not to shorten the wrap arounds .

I'm also debating wether or not to paint them body color or leave 'em chrome.

If you section them, and want to chrome them, they better be perfect. I personally like chrome bumpers.

    Looks good Darrel!
If the bumpers are in good shape, chrome wise, I'd leave them.....
    PINKY is body color
    Yellow is chrome.

    step 1) - buy a small bumper car !!! :rofl2: Just kidding !
The first thing I did was to measure how far I could move the bumper back. I think it was a total of 4". I used the center hood latch support as my stopping point. Then I took the mounting brackets off, took them to my work and put them in a 10 ton press and pressed them in 4" . I left them in the press while I welded around the bracket. Brought 'em home, bolted 'em back in and "viola" big bumper slide. Oh, and I had to trim the stone guard too. Overall a pretty easy job.

    Re: Bumper Slide

    Hey Boss9,

I like the bumper slide - very nice!

I just wanted to mention that your helper seems to have a leak out his navel.

I'm happy to see that he "bleeds" Ford blue!

    Regards,

maybe if you paid him a little more he could afford a shirt and solve the leaky belly button problem.:D
