Hey there, I've got a 76 Mav, with the big bumpers and I wanna get rid of them in a couple of months. I've read the articles posted here in the site, and found some swap-process pictures on this site: http://texasgrabber.com/DarrylsBumpers.html

I just want to know if I need to get the front fenders too, because the guy from the site changed them, but the articles say nothing about getting fenders, just brackets, mounts, bumpers and those things.

you can modify the fenders that are on there, but it seems it would be easier if you could find some nice small bumper car fenders. they are different. also, do you have the small bumper valance for the front? big bumper cars did not have that. look closely at some pics of the fronts of the two cars and youll see the piece im talking about(behind my license if you look at mine). good luck.

Actually the fenders are pretty easy to modify for the small bumper conversion. As an alternative, you can cut notches in the stone guard to go around the fenders so you wouldnt have to touch the fenders at all. I know several people who have done it that way.

yeah, I know I have to get both valances, but I didn't know it was also optional to get 70-72 fenders too. Do I need to get a 70-72 (not grabber) hood too?

Nope, hood has nothing to do with the bumpers.

    Thanks :)

I noticed in the rear view pics that the trunk lid was removed too. Is that trunk lid the normal or the one with the molded spoiler???

The rubber(plastic?urethane?)filler panel on the '73-up cars-couldn't you just cut it down to fit the small bumper,it's still got the character line that runs just under the grill.

The one on the '70-'72 cars is metal, but I don't see why not.

You will need front and rear bumper brackets, front and rear bumpers, front and rear valances, rear quarter extensions, and the rear mounts that weld to the floor of the trunk to do the swap. You will have to drill several holes in the rear of the car to mount the rear valance and bumper. I believe you will also need the brace under the hood latch thing that the grille screws to from a small bumper car. It has a place to screw the center of the front valance to.
