Hello Maverick Community. I am currently experiencing issues with my 74' maverick. Every time i try to turn the key I get a buzzing noise and all the lights on the dash come on. I found on another post that I could push the red button on the drivers side in the engine compartment and it would override the issue. I had done that every time this issue had happened, but today no matter how many times i push it, my car does not crank. I even tried disconnecting the battery but same issue after plugging it back on. Can anybody help me with this? Thanks!
The red button is a seat belt bypass switch, you may be having problems with the seat belt switch, not really sure how it operates just know that the 74 is the only year that has the switch. I do know that there is a way to bypass it. I am sure someone else will chime in with a better answer
A buzzing/chattering is usually solenoid cycling because of weak/bad battery... That symptom traces back to at least the early '50s models...
