I just rebuilt my c4 about three weeks ago and ive been getting a bad flare between 2 and 3 ive already adjusted the band but that did not help. the rebuild kit came with a shift kit and i think that might be the problem but i cant find any info of anybody else expirancing this, has anyone else had this problem

Depending on the calibration of the valve body and the servo used the 2-3 flare is a common enough symptom of the intermediate servo dis-engaging before the direct clutch can apply.
What shift kit came with your rebuild kit?
    what year is the C4?

Paul, isn't this an indicator that the transmission is worn to the point where it needs to be repaired?

Mine did the same thing after adding a shift kit, but I kept cranking on the intermediate band until most of it went away. I think it is supposed to be backed out 1-1/2 turn, I am at 3/4. Just a bandaid fix, which is likely causing more damage to the internals.

New trans going in in the next couple weeks, going out right now to start removing the old one.

A fresh rebuild can have the problem if the wrong servo or valve body calibration is used. There is a simple fix for the problem that only requires removing the valve body and installing a restrictor. (there are two kinds of valve bodies and two different restrictors - I talk about the most common in my tech article on how to hot-rod the C4.
There are several things that can be done to remove the symptoms but the real cure is to restrict the release of the intermediate servo.
    The cheats are:
Tighten up the direct pack end play - .005" per friction is about as tight as you can go.
Tighten the band - 10 ft pounds and back off at least 3/4 turns.

Both are "band-aid" fixes and cause wear in the clutch and band - and generate a lot of heat. the restrictor is easy to make and install.

    Cool! Thanks Paul.

Just in case I need this on my "new" transmission...

If you have another valve body dump the one with the B&M kit in it and put a TransGo -2 kit in the new one. You will be completely satisfied!
B&M is infamous for shift problems and inconsistent performance in the C4s.
I don't believe the B&M kit is compatible with the TransGo kit - so don't complicate the problem by installing the TransGo kit in the same valve body.
