C4 Transmission

    My C4 Transmission hits hard when I put it in reverse, sounds like the rear end is breaking loose, I have new U-Joints, can I fix it without pulling out the transmission?

    Could be a sticking valve in the valve body which would not require removing the tranny.

    :Welcome: from Atlantic Canada!! I would also check the rear pinion for play/leakage around the seal. A bad pinion bearing in the rearend will also give you a noticeable clunk.
