If you have the split mono leafs installed, is your rear axle centered in the wheel well?

Mine are, but I've got sliders instead of spring hangers. Nothing on my car is normal...so I'm of no help. Sorry, just upping my post count I guess.

Are sliders a good set up for weight transfer?

I've heard that they are and that's why I used them. There are guys running them successfully with Caltracs. I personally feel that it gets rid of the arc that shackles swing in, and that makes it a bit more consistent and tuneable. But that is just my theory.

Here are some pics of the Caltracs, Split Mono's, new double adjustable Viking shocks and the sliders. I've been working on this for a long while to get it to this point. IMG_0703.JPG IMG_0704.JPG IMG_0705.JPG IMG_0706.JPG

Do you still have the part number stickers on the top of your springs?

Yes, the front is F125-445 and the rear is LR231-445. Or P77138 and P76783.

Looks like nice work. I see the slicks, track only car.. or do you street it with other tires?

Thanks! It will be primarily a track car, but I have tires and hub caps too for car shows and such. I just don't know if they will fit with the new aerospace disc brakes I just installed last year.

Do you have weight on the tire in those pictures? Now that I look closer I should correct myself and say that mine are shifted forward by about the same amount. I guess that I just never paid attention to it.

Cool, thanks for the reply. Main reason I even asked was to see what you thought of the sliders noise levels on the street?

Suspension noise isn't a problem because I have an open exhaust. But it runs through a turbo and out a 5" pipe in the fender so it isn't like open headers. But to be honest I'm not sure if I'd even hear anything else going on with the exhaust the way it is. The rear moves very freely, but it is a bit rougher than your normal ride. It doesn't have any rubber in the front or rear eyelets at all so that contributes.

Ok thanks. I got the fuller picture now, nice solid hardcore setup.

I hear quite a few on the streets through the years and they are typically noisier on the outside than they are on the inside of the car. Especially when they get old or wear funny from poor installation geometry.

I was more or less just curious on what you thought about the noise but that turbo exhaust would surely also make me not give a rats tail about a few little "overloaded old roller skate" sounds coming from the back of the car while running over speedbumbs or driving up driveways and parking lots.

Is your car in the garage section of the forum? I and others would surely love to see more details and drivetrain pictures. Video of it running would be even awesomer. You know what they say.. no good deed goes unpunished. ;)

PS. Hate to keep acting the pest here but I have wondered for years.. is it MNTony because you're originally from Minnesota?

I spent 13 years in Minnesota. Up in Maple Grove. I actually bought the car south of the twin cities from a teacher that was laid off. He had found it in Las Vegas and brought it to Minnesota. I really don't think that it was up there for more than a year or so while he owned it. He had it painted and put new interior in it. A deal that I just couldn't pass up after I sold my drag car Mustang and my street car LeMans up there. Anyhow, it was supposed to just a simple street car but when I moved back here to AZ things got out of hand.

I actually was going to put it in the garage section just last week, but it was asking me questions about tire size and such...and to be honest I was just to lazy to go out in the garage and look for the information! That is on my list of things to do.

I have to believe that the way it is set up that it has to be noisier than I am noticing, but I think that the Caltracs add a ton of noise from the get-go. I wish that I could tell you more. Come out for a vacation from the cold and I'll take you for a ride!
