    Hi,
Bought my first Maverick yesterday! A 74 four door, Love it!!
My first problem is, i went to fill the near empty tank and the gas literally flows out of the tank onto the bumper. regardless of the angel or speed of fill up... It took almost 20 minutes to put 5 dollors in, and i am covered in fuel... The gas gauge went from nearly empty to about a quarter, so i know it wasnt full.... any ideas???????

shake the rear end side to side to fill it up, mine had the same problem, it got holes in it so I took it to tank renu and they fixed both problems but I dont know how?

I was thinking, do the 74's have a vent tube that can clog? Possibly that?

No clogged vent tube...just crappy early 70's engineering. Read the linked thread for suggestions on how to fill that tank or how to fix it so it doesn't puke on you anymore.

I agree, it is irritating, but I get puked on EVERY time I fill up.
