car craft hey did any of you guys see in the november edition of car craft that they are looking for a clean maverick to put a 5.0, out of a mustang gt, in. i think that it would be great if some one on the board could help them.
thats what my dad said i should do let them put the engine in my car and when they give it back to me have a big car craft sticker on the back window. fee advertizing right.
i said the same thing i said the same thing when i read it. i would be more than glad to give them mine as long as they gave it back. kinda like the show overhaulin.
I'd second that. I got a really nice, 99% rust free, almost all original 71, just sitting out there waiting for Foose to realize a Maverick is what all his talent was intended for.
Dennis ... the only problem with Foose is he doesn't like manual shift cars ... he always does automatic. He had pulled a 4-speed out of a Cuda/Challenger on one show and was ready to stick the automatic in there and they guys wife is like ... WHAT ARE YOU DOING! He will be very upset if you put an Auto in there. They ended up ditching the auto and putting in either a 5 or 6 speed ....
Interesting... Car Craft did a Maverick project car, dubbed "The Watermellon Project", back in July, September, October & December of '72. That's where I got the part numbers for my v-8 conversion. The car, built by Ro McGonegal, used a Borg Warner T-10 4-speed and a '69 Mustang 9" with a 3.89:1 ratio on a Detroit Locker. The project was finished by Dave Daniels at Orange County Automotive Consortium. I knew that stack of old magazines would come in handy one day. Wonder if that car has survived...
Ro is a good friend of mine i can ask him what happend to the car. He was editor at the time on that magazine. I think the car was from Ford at the time.. they might have just crushed it! but this is one reason why Ro loved my car.. for HOT ROD a few years ago. heres a photo of Ro.... not that anyone cares
