Seems to have some sort of problem with the wiring on my Comet, there's no power inside the car (ignition, lights, gauges etc.).. However, the electrical fuel pump does work.. Plenty of power on the battery and everything, not really sure what to look for so I was hoping someone on here might have an idea of what and where the problem is?
Is the power to the fuel pump being supplied from the engine compartment or from the fuse block? If it is from the engine compartment, I am guessing you have corrosion on the main harness where it passes through the firewall into the fuse block.
there is a fuseable link in the main power wire from the starter solinoid going into the car. i dont know how your fuel pump is wired so that doesnt really help. use a test light to find where the power stops. check the fuse block to see if it has power. if it does then go to the ignition switch to see if it has power going into and out of it. if you dont have power at the fuse block then you need to check the wire from the solinoid to the fuse block. this wire has the fuseable link. its right after the wire connects to the solinoid. you can unbolt the fuse block from the fire wall by undoing the bolt in the center of the fuse block. with the fuse block out you can see the prongs of the wires from the engine compartment. the biggest prong is the power wire from the solinoid.
Well, I believe the fuel pump is connected directly to the battery.. As for the rest of the wiring of the car, it's a mess.. Tape everywhere, and since I don't really have any space to work with the car at, this may take some time sorting out
