Okay, so I put a carter yfa style carburetor on my 1971 maverick after widening the holes with a drill press, and when I start the car, it starts spraying gas out of the top of the carburetor from that tube that sticks upward. any thoughts? also, this carb has 2 nipples to connect hoses to instead of one like my old one did. here is a picture of the new carburetor below: http://i22.ebayimg.com/02/i/03/39/22/8b_1_b.JPG the new one is taller than the stock which was shorter and longer Rick
If gas is shooting out of the vent tube it's usually because the needle valve is stuck open. Sometimes just rapping the fuel bowl will unstick it, if not, you'll have to take it apart to see what the problem is (bad float, debris in the needle/seat, etc.).
