carpet

i'm about ready to order the new carpet from acc for my money pit.i know this is alot to ask for but would anyone be able to show me the difference between what the cut pile and looped pile looks like.i havent a clue.feel free to give me your opinion of which is better of the two.thanx

Dont have a pic handy but picture this. Burlap bag...Loop pile carpet.Cut pile...soft like the carpet in your living room.High end new cars generally use cut pile type carpet.

 

that helps a little mavman thanx.on another note i gotta get this front bumper sent off.not sure what their turnaround time is but i'm sure its not quick.wish there was some thing around here.lotta rechromeing places but no one who can run it through ajig and straighten it out the way a place that specializes in that sort of thing.

 

I got mine from this place of ebay aardvarkmotors they had excellent comunication and were super probably spent an hour just doing research on my carpet to make shure it was what I wanted and that it would fit my car then he made some calls to make shure I could have it in less then a week ordered it monday morning it will be at my shop tomarrow morning I must say that for having something custom made thats impressive just not certain of quality ill take some pics and let you know in tomarrow morning though by the way it was $143.10 shipped to me and Im farther north of them then you so it should be about the same. Loop carpet is correct for a Maverick. LDO Mavericks had cut pile.

 

Loop is the stuff you took out. Looks like a bath towel but with bigger threads and loops. If you stick a screwdriver in it, you will get stuck in the loops. Burber carpet is looped.

Cut pile is what new cars have. Just straight threads sticking straight up. When you drag a screwdriver through it, it just drags through without hanging.

Not sure how well you can see it in the pic. This is cut pile from ACC.

When purchasing from ACC, be sure to say your car is year model WAY off from the transitional years. I told them mine was a 74, and I got the carpet with the catalytic converter hump built in, but my car has no cat, so I had a bump of extra material when I was done.

 

Weren't there 3 carpets? Loop in the earlier years, shorter cut pile in the last years, and that shaggy stuff in the LDOs?

 

But my Grabbers had cut pile, but not as thick as LDO's.

 

That just might be the case. I guess I don't know for sure.

 

Before you decide, call ACC up and tell them you want samples of several of them. They will send you little 2 or 3 inch chunks in whatever colors and cuts you want, then you cannot go wrong.

 

I parted a 73 Ldo it had shaggy carpet.

 

thats a good idea. i did that with my center column and it matched my dash perfectly.the dash i'm now dyeing black
