Carter/ Edelbrock carb question

    73 comet gt, 76 comet 4 door, 71 Maverick 200/I6
    On a edelbrock or carter competion series carb there is two vacuum ports on the carb can anyone tell me which one is for the distributor i belive its the one on thats a little bit lower and on the left(if your looking at the frount of the carb.) because it at the butterflys and if i remeber correct dist need a timed vacuum and that kind comes from the butterflys when they are closed and goes away when there open.....?

    The passenger side one is timed .... driver side one is full .... I just installed my new dizzy on the timed port.

    why would you use vacuum advance...i know that it is helpful in stuff....but why use it... i dont use it on my MSD dist....and my engine operates fine...
