Having some issues with the wifes 1984 crown vic.First off it started to charge and discharge intermittently, found some bad wires on the regulator and everything seemed to be fine. Then the other night it did it again this time it ran the battery down till the car died.So here comes the list, took the battery, cables, starter selenoid, voltage reg, alt, off of the Comet. All worked good in the Comet but of course the Comet doesn't have the power accesories the Crown vic does.NOW it charges fine high 13 volts untill you turn the headlights and heater on it will drop off to 11.8-12.2 volts. If you shut off the lights it's back up to 13 volts.Any ideas? And yes i did a search but didn't find any with these symptoms.

    Thanks Derek.

A 35 amp alt. will not be enough for a crown vic. I would say a 65 amp would be min, may even need more than that. After all my electronic upgrades on the Maverick, I run a 100 amp and it is just barley enough
