Charging system Q&A.

    I was wondering about my charging system, it seems that when I sit at idle the system is between 10 & 12 and idles rough, but when I drive the car it goes up to about 13 or 14, but never passes 14 and rides smooth. Is this normal?

    1972 Maverick 2 door.Original V-8 3 spd std shift.Also a 72 one owner Sprint sporting a 351 Windsor
    Mine sits at about 12 at idle,never had a problem.The alt doesnt put out much at low rpm,so it doesnt show much voltage down low.when you rev it and it doesnt move above 10 or 12 volts,then you have a problem.
