Just thought you all would like to see this Maverick with a high starting bid. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=49230&item=8133215346&rd=1
Looking at the pics, I would say that he probably has the 11K BIN price or more invested into that car. It will be interesting to see if anyone bids!
Looks good, but there are a couple things that I question. First off, in the trunk pics, you can see what appears to be where factory body side trim holes were filled in (look at driver's side quarter for the best view). Also the inside quarters have been repainted and they sprayed over the marker light housings, which is not how it was done originally. I am thinking that this is a 72 converted into a Grabber Clone. The grill is most likely a stock 72 painted black (or from a 70 Grabber), and the hood stripe is the painted on 71 style, not the two piece 72 decal, as it should be if it was a real 72 Grabber. As 72 was the first year for the LDO, my theory is that this guy took a 2-door LDO, stripped the trim and most of the interior and slapped a hood and spoiler and partial Grabber interior in it. This would explain the light tan dash and door metal. He must have put in the seats and door panels from another car. Another thing is that the stripes are not correct for the car, either. First off, the stripes do not say Grabber (much like the 70 Grabber stripes), but the main thing is to look at the front. These stripes go all the way to the front of the fender, not just enclose the light as they should. Other little details that are off is that the honeycomb in the scoops were not repainted black, and you can tell by looking at the tire pressure sticker, it was masked off for painting. The little details about the paint/stripes aren't that big of a deal, but I don't think that this is a Grabber. "Mostly stock".. maybe mostly stock Maverick parts, but not stock for this particular car... -Corbin
Arnt we getting a little too picky? Starting to sound like those Mustang guys. I dont think it would or should have any bearing on the price either way but getting the vin # would settle that. Thats one nice car and well worth the money. I just doubt that he will find a buyer but I hope he does. A 351C with headers and it dosent look like he shaved the shock towers. Pretty slick.
I know, it sounds picky, but I would definitly like the know the history of the car before I bought it. To some a true Grabber is all they will settle for (not a clone), and if it turns out not to be, they will likely get pretty pissed when they pick it up and see that. I think it is a very nice car, but I was just listing some things that need to be looked at. -Corbin
I might be wrong, but I read over it pretty good and he never says that it is a Grabber. Did anyone else notice the battery in the trunk and one under the hood? Dave
From the ad: "your bidding on a 1972 maverick grabber, mostly stock, freash rebuilt 351 cleavland motor, bored .03 over, demon duel feed 750cfm carb, 2inch Gary Cook headers, D.U.I ignition, C4 trans 3500 stall and a B&M slap stick shifter, car is as clean underneath as it is outside and inside, any questions please call RICK at 248 789 8085." HAHA! I didn't notice the two batteries either. Yep, LDO carpet as well. Also, looks like a Stallion steering wheel.
I also was under the impression that is was a Grabber clone - too many mismatched years and models to be a real Grabber. I think VIN numbers should be manditory for eBay auctions. If somebody needs to protect the full number, the last 4 digits could be posted with XXXX.
I can't figure out why its listed under video games...it will never be seen searching Ebay motors...nice car though for sure.
