My choke heat riser tube got rusted enough to break off at the exhaust manifold. I purchased a kit that gave two options, one to drill out the existing stub and replace with an inset and aluminum tubing, and the other is to strap a gathering device to move heat up the tube to the carb. My carb is the original 2bbl on a 73 and also has an electric choke.

What is the function of the heat riser tube when there is already an electric choke on the carb. Any ideas ? Thanks.

Nothing,. The heat riser tube heats a ring spring that opens the choke as it heats up.
Since your carb has a electric choke you really don't need it.

    What Bruce said.
Eliminate the tube completely if you have an electric choke now.
