I'm wanting to remove the chrome strip that runs from my fender, along the door to the rear quarter panel. :( I've got some rust forming under it and I need to get rid of it. any suggestion? :hmmm:

Best I can remember the fender trim is removed by removing nuts on the back side of the fender. The doors have one nut or screw on the end of the strip and have clips holding it in the middle. The trim on the quarter has clips holding it in place.

Your right rthomas771. I just took the trim off the 74 I sold, as the guy wanted it removed before he agreed to buy the car. Didn't ask why just spend a hour doing it before he showed up.

Hey guys! Blue looks totally different without the chrome strips. She's not the grandma goes to meeting car anymore.. She looks mean... I love it!!! :yahoo: Thanks again for all your help and suggestions. I'm restoring this car by myself and I'm having a blast.

I do have one more question...I have what I call the chunky bumper. It sticks out way to far and I need to get rid of it. What other bumpers will work for my 74?

or you can go with the 71-72 conversion. you will need the bumpers, brakets, end caps and the tuck panel and stone gard to convert it o and the filler pieces that go under the r qwarter exstentions there all bolt on with just some noches needed in the fendes. if your lucky in your area you can get everything you need at a local junk yard there are lots of good yards in pa.

I like the tucked bumper. But I also have small bumpers on my car, now.
I plan on getting a tucked bumper build. After restoring the 71.(y)
