I updated the classifieds rules with regards to parting out cars. Since it is unrealistic to list every part, a minimum of 10 must be listed with a price and the rest can be through email/pm.

It should all be by P.M., but then again, there wouldn't be enough "rules", and we gotta make sure we have plenty of those.

The parts car may not even have 10 good parts on it. The condition of each car varies...

    Is "Frame" considered a "part"?

If the car has 5 parts that are good, then only those 5 parts need to be listed. If the car has 15 parts that are good, then at least 10 must be listed with a price and "make an offer on the rest" would be acceptible. I jsut dont want someone to post an ad tha says, "parting out car, make me an offer".

Right, but they should be able to say: "Parting out car--P.M. me for details" or "Tell me what parts you're looking for and I'll tell you if I have them". Some things here are becoming more complicated than they really need to be...

This is allowed, but at least 10 items must be listed with a price. I dont see what is so complicated about listing at least 10 items.. If people played nice, then these rules would not be needed. Unfortunately, this is not the case and people were getting ripped off and that is why we have them. Need I remind you of how you felt this summer when your package got lost and you thought you got ripped off?

No Stefan, you needn't remind me of that, especially since it has nothing to do with what we're talking about here. With new "rules" constantly being added here, one would think you were running a country rather than a discussion forum for Mavericks. That's what I mean about "complicated". Lots of unneccessary stuff, and the list of rules just continues to grow...

Since the rules have been put in place, the amount of fraud that has been reported to me has gone down significantly. There are many more members and trading going on than before, so these rules are working. Back in the 90s we were a small group of people and I ran the board myself. Times have changed, we now have moderators and rules had to be introduced and there will probably more as this site grows.

I agree with Stefan also here...
Listing some parts that are good is alot better than saying "im parting out this car"
Lots of people look for specific parts a lot of the time.
saying you have good front and rear bumpers, valances, boomerangs or gascaps will always get you a PM sent and most likely it will sell.

Frankly, I find it lazy if someone says "im parting this car out" when they could list a few good parts they have instead of having 3 pages of posts saying "whats good?" "Is this good?" etc

And how hard is it to send a P.M. and ask if the seller has the part you need? Like I said, the car may or may not have 5 good parts on it. I also fail to see how listing the parts can prevent people from being ripped off, but whatever. Keep those rules coming. 'Wonder how many more there will be by this time next year. I just wanna discuss Mavericks/Comets, like back in the "old days"....

Many sellers simply join to sell parts and new members can only store 20 PMs. If 10 people send the seller a PM and he replies to all 10, he wont be able to recieve any more PMs unless he starts deleting them.

Imagine someone posts a "Parting a 1972 Grabber" ad. I wonder how many PMs/emails he would get for the Grabber hood? Now lets say this is an unscrupulous seller and wants to rip members off and decides to sell the non existant hood for $100. Im sure he would easily con many members into sending him money in a very short period of time.

If someone tried to post a $100 Grabber hood for sale on the forum, many members would question it. This is exactly what happened with this user, who was banned and he tried to rip members off, and it all started with a $100 Grabber hood. Im glad we caught him as he ripped many people off on another board and on ebay with his shill bidding.

As many as are needed to keep this community rolling smoothly and safely.
