Is it all it's cracked up to be??? I don't know anybody that has actually done it, so I'm wondering if it is worthwhile? My car looks good as is, but if I rub my hand over it, I can feel a little road grit. If it is worth doing, does anybody have any tips, and how often should you do it?

Anything other than a show car that will be meticulously inspteced - IMO, no.

Ive detailed alot of cars over the years,It's one of those steps that needs to be taken to give the best clarity to a good older paint job IMO.

Definetly worth doing, as far as how often depends on how much you like to work you arms out and if your car lives outside or in a garage or storage area.

You can wax your car and after you are done go over it with the clay bar you will be amazed at how much the bar will pick up, of course you will have to wax the car again after going over it with the clay bar.

I just did my entire pathfinder with a clay bar (its a 97, so the paints a little aged) and it made a huge difference. Gave the paint a lot more depth and shine. It actually looks like a darker hue of red now. Really wasn't too much of a pain, except for the hood where I had to take care of all the hard water spots from repeatedly parking by a broken sprinkler.

I used the Turtle Wax clay bar system on my car, and it made a big difference in the shine, and the feel of the paint. Much easier to wax. Worth the money in my humble opinion.

Frank; done with the proctologyst. Seems the rear end is ok, and the problem seems to be in the bell housing. The drive line guy seems to think the clutch pressure plate or the flywheel are out of balance. The worse vibration is at 1200-1500rpm, and seems to lessen the higher you go. He put the drive shaft on a lathe, and it was straight and true, and the gear was fine, nothing bad inside, and the Auburn is good. Seems like it is a flywheel problem, as the clutch is working fine, and out of gear, I still get the vibration. Just wonder how bad it is getting the mains?

The current paint job on my car is preatty good as is with a real nice shine to it, but I think I will give it the clay bar a try when I have a good weekend day all to myself. Thanks for the response!

I love them. I have only used it on the Comet once-it rarely gets dirty.
I used it to clean up some light overspray on Dad's truck after it went
back for a little touchup painting. It worked very well. Smooth and slick
    afterwards.

I doubt that I would use it on a car that is driven routinely unless it were
to clean up problems such as sap or issues in the paint.

Just bought a new white car. I will be using it prior to applying a coat of Wizards Supreme Seal.

I used it on mine.....surface really felt rough before; it does a good job of getting rid of grit build-up on paint.
