i got the dash pad and door panels out and now i'm just wondering what to clean them with. i'm thinking just warm soap and water but i want to double check with you guys before i get started i've heard that "armor all" cracks it so i know not to use that
Some of you have seen me post this before (and may think I'm crazy), but the only thing I use on dash pads is baby oil. It keeps the material soft and allows it to breath, because it doesn't seal over the pores (Armor all and similar products seal over pores to make a shiny finish). I've been using it many years and haven't had a dash crack yet.
I washed mine up with warm soap and water. Then I rubbed in mink oil ! That stuff also deep cleans as you rub it in. It brought the pad back to its blk blk that was original! Anyway, thats what I've been using, even on my plastic stuff, though plan to dye my kickboards since they are skuffed and fadded from all the years.
The owner of an upholstery shop told me to use Lestoil on vinyl & plastics. I tried it last year (utilizing a soft bristle brush) and it really works well. Give it a try, kind of hard to find, but Ace Hardware carries it.... http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1418934&cp=&kw=lestoil&origkw=lestoil&sr=1
