clr?

    now i looked in the left side of my trunk and found some rust not bad but is really bright orange. i have heard of the CLR cleaning stuff that takes away rust . if i put some of it down there and scrub it would the rust go away.

    I wouldn't...it might eat away good metal or seep onto/into areas you don't want it to. It is basically an acid (or strong base) that will eat the metal and stuff up.

    Try POR-15 or similar. Just brush away the loose rust flakes and paint it on. Rust will stop forever (at least in that area...it will continue to attack the car in all the other places!).

    CLR is for removing rust stains on vitreous china (toilet bowls, shower stalls). It will not work on metal surfaces. The best way to remove rust is to sand or wire brush it down to bare metal and then paint it or apply a rust inhibitor as mentioned above.
