Just wondering whats the prefered method you guys use to adjust your clutch cables?
I read in a Ford sevice manual one time that the factory set up has no free play and the release bearing is in contact all the time. But Centerforce asks for 1/4 to 1/2" freeplay. With that much free play the fork is kinda rattling around in the bellhousing with the clutch ingauged.
Just wondering if theres any preferred way.

Freeplay is always measured at the pedal - not at the clutch.
If you adjust the cable properly it will have no freeplay until you stroke it a few times.
The play comes from the flex in the cable housing.

Ok Paul let see if i'm understanding.I have adjusted a pile of linkage types without too much trouble,i think i'm just getting a false feel from the cable.
So is it ok if the throwout bearing is contacting the pressure plate? When i say contacting i mean just barely touching.
I had the car out for a run today and it seems to work great the clutch starts to grab just a little before half way from the floor.
Am i in the ball park?

Well, I would say ... as long as it doesn't slip and it engages where you feel comfortable then it is just right.

Cool thanks Paul.I actually reread the adjustment instructions and my mistake it was 1/8-1/4 inch of cable deflection at the fork.I think i'm close once i get a few easy miles on it i will recheck again.
