What clutch kit are people using nowadays. Need somthing that will hold up a little better then stock but not bend factory linkage or make my leg shake at stoplights.
I have a CenterForce that's a diaphram clutch that bolts in place of the old Long-style clutches. Less pedal pressure and about 30% better holding power.
I have the Centerforce with the counterweights. It makes the pedal light, but the weights spin outward and hook harder and harder as the rpms increase.
So the centerforce is a good choice. I was looking at a zoom but I`ll look into the centerforce do any of you happen to have the part #. Thanks for the help Chris
Here is the one I am using: http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy01.asp?T1=DF700001+01&Category=&catkey=emustang
I am using the more aggressive version. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=CTF%2DDF490030&view=1&N=700+150+4294908331+4294925079+4294925134+4294839071+4294865886+4294860743+400420+4294840126+4294787400+ That part is the 10" version. I have the 11". It hooks up like no clutch I have ever owned. I used the FMS roller crank bearing and Hayes self aligning TO too. Smooth as butter.
Thanks for the advice. I ordered a ram heavy duty unit. I`ll probally be sorry but I like to expereiment.
Not trying to hijack the thread, but I do have a question. I am adding a 4-speed toploader and 302 V8 (estimated 380 hp) to my Maverick. I am trying to select the right clutch. Should I go with a 10" or 11"? And would the long style recommended or would I be okay with a diaphragm style? Thanks!
