I came across a thread on fordsix.com and one guy talked about the HEI module getting hotter due to coil resistance. im currently running a DSII w/ GM 4 pin HEI module set-up on my 302. here is the link to the thread and the specs on the coil im running. if the amount of resistance really dose make it heat up more couldnt I run a resistor on it? http://www.fordsix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12955&start=0 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-5527/
Yes, you can add a resistor. Don't know what load the ignition will handle but the coil in your link's primary resistance is only .44 ohms. I would add a 1 ohm resistor and see how it works. My Pertronix, for instance, requires a 1.5 ohm coil. NAPA or some place will have them.

I found a set of two at radioshack for 3$, i just had to crimp on some spade connectors i had laying around. the msd one at the parts store was about 8$+shipping because they would have had to order it....too much for such a small item in my opinion......must be because its msd lol
