I will be painting the Mav within the next few months, and I am having a hard time deciding on the color. It needs to be a solid color(no metallics). It also needs to be an off the shelf color. I am thinking either black or orange. Im sure orange would be more forgiving of any defects in body work, but black sure would look good if I can get the car straight enough. The only reason Im planning this far ahead is because I need to know what color primer to buy. I was originally going to do a blacked out tail panel and hood center, but if I go with orange Im afraid I would run into the Halloween look if I did that. Black would obviously not lend itself well to the blacked out section either. I guess that makes it easier on me in the end having to only shoot one color. Anybody have any other colors they would like to suggest? Keep in mind no metallics or pearls or anything tough to shoot like that. Thanks
I considered that too. I still worry about the Halloween look mixing black and orange. Thanks for the suggestion
Here is what mine looked like in college, after it was repainted. It was a grabber with the white stripes, but I never put any back on. The paint is ford 1974 ,code 5W. Of course a little white and you would have a University of Tennessee car. Robert
bright orange will look good, but since it is a bright color, make sure your body is straight..you will see all the little imperfections...... but it would look awesome with the black stripes over it... good luck and send some pics
I think I will go with orange after all. Its just a great muscle car color. As soon as my new tools come in I'll get to work and start posting the pics. I hope this project will get moving pretty quickly now that the tools are available
