Need help before I tear the thing apart.
There is no tension in the shifter lever when pulled back. So I think the Tension Spring is bad. Now I have never changed one. So do you just pull the pin out of the shifter and pull the old spring out and put the new one in? Or do you have to tear the whole steering wheel apart?
Also where would I get the Tension Spring from? Local Auto Store?

    C4, Auto.
    Thanks for any help.

Gotta tear the whole thing apart. The spring is behind the bell, see http://www.1bad6t.com/Maverick/repair/diagrams/untitled236.gif. When removing the bell from the column...don't remove the nuts completely or you cant get them back on easily. You can swing the bolts apart to get the head in and out of the slot in the tube. Don't know where to buy a spring...I happen to have a spring in my 5 gallon bucket of bolts when I replaced my spring.
