Comet Clone

Hey guys I've had this idea in my mind. How hard would it be to clone a Maverick a Comet? I know you would need the following.

• Comet Hood
• Comet Grill
• Comet Taillights
• Comet Front Bumper
• Comet Emblems

Just wondering and got a idea.

 

Everything would work fine except the tailights ... the rear panel is completely different ...

 

I never knew that.

What is the difference?

 

Perhaps somebody that has both can take pics ...

Maverick is flat with the center raised the entire length of the panel and about the height of the taillights.

The Comet is flat and two raised areas under each taillight matching the shape of the taillight ...

See how on the Comet panel its flat and on the Mav panel it's raised up some all the way across between the tail lights.

 

Yeah, I was just comparing a Maverick and Comet rear too.

I could probably either find a recked Comet and cut out the panel.

Or me and my Dad could fab up our own taillight panel easily.

Just buy a Comet.

 

But he already has a Maverick. I have a Comet hood on mine and am going to put the grill on tomarrow.

 

Yeah, that's what I was thinking I could clone one for cheaper.

I saw your's with the blue Comet hood on it, in one of the posts.

 

Oh, Yeah one more thing I forgot. Is there any difference between a Maverick interior and a Comet interior?

 

The little chrome logo on the passenger side of the dash says Comet instead of Maverick.

Also the logo on the steering wheel and door panels are diffrent if your car has those.

That's what I kinda' figured, that it would just be emblems.

 

Not if you're frugal.

My '74 comet 250, ac, PS, no rust, cost me $130, 2 months ago. Ebay, believe it or not. CA car. hehehehehehe. Let's see you clone one for less than that.

 

I could easily clone one less then that. So far I have $75 tied up in a rust free hood with perfect trim, very nice '72 Grill, nice '72 bumper, and tail lights.

Frugal that.

 

Yeah, anything is possible.
