does anyone have an engineering draft of the early 70s comet grilles?

or is anyone in the portland, or area with an intact grille they would be willing to let me take detailed measurements to make an engineering draft of it.

i need to replace my grille and it seems like it might be easier to fab a new one until i can locate an original. But id like to fab one as close to original as possible.

Fabbing up a grill for a Comet will not be an easy task with all the angles they have. If you are successsful I am sure you could sell a few :thumbs2:

Occasionally they show up on here and ebay but expect to pay a hefty amount for one. The big swap meets a little over a month away you might get lucky and find one there.

im sure its not easy. but it seems like a fun project and good use of my industrial engineering skills. im a pretty fair hand at using cad software.

i figure that the easiest method for fabbing one would be to make a clay mold and injection mold it with plastic. i haven't decided yet what kind of plastic to use but then i haven't even seen a comet grille up close yet.

unfortanetly im on too tight of a budget right now to buy one off ebay. Besides, ive been thinking about it all day and i think id love to make a custom one. I just need to get the measurements off a stock one first. It really is not that hard to fab one from scratch once i have the measurements.
