I want to put a GT hood scoop on my Comet. Does anyone know anything about the reproduction one available from the MaverickConnection as seen on E-bay?Thanks Paul

All of the repro scoops I have seen have the studs in a different location than the stock scoop. The ones on e-bay from Chuck at the Maverick Connection have a diagram showing the locations.

Thanks for the information. I am going to be putting it on a flat (undrilled) hood so the fact that the studs are in a different location should not be a concern. I was wondering does anyone have a factory one for sale? Paul

I have heard it said that a Cougar Eliminator scoop is identical to the Comet GT scoop.
I also doubt very seriously Chuck produces his own scoop. He usually finds parts to resell at a healthy markup.
Therefore, I would say: Research the Cougar angle, if true, you could find the part cheaper from a Stang/Cougar resto house.
    Good luck
    Dave

I bought one from Mustangs Unlimited that was meant for a Cougar ... I have seen the one Chucks sells ... I think it is nicer than the Mustangs Unlimited one. It seemed thicker and heavier ...

    Should look for his source.
Have you seen the hefty markup he puts on MAS front spoilers?
    Probably the same case here.

I think he puts a healthy mark up on about everything he sells.

Thanks for the info. I have many other things to do before I will be needing to buy a scoop but I like to know what to look for just in case a "deal" comes along. I will do some comparative shopping in the mean time. Maybe a good used factory scoop. Paul

    They are the same.

They were used on '68/'69 Mercury Cyclones and '69/'70 Cougar Eliminators prior to the GT.

I always figured they were all the same. :)
