Is the comet GT scoop originally functional?

I'm having hood clearance problems and thinking about cutting a hole in the hood and installing a scoop.

    Anybody installed an aftermarket scoop?

    Who sells these scoops?

The only thing the original scoop scooped, was bugs, they were not functional.

Maybe the scoop was supposed to catch the bugs before they landed on the windshield.:rofl2:

I cut a hole in one of my gt hoods for the air cleaner i would really think about doing this. preformance wise it doesnt really do a whole lot its a really small scoop and it will hurt when you can drive you car like if the weathers bad, or when your washing your car you have to plug the hole, and your engine bay gets dirty fast. If you do one off those foam scoop plugs is a good investment but they need some serious triming to fit the odd scoop shape.
