I have a 1973 Mercury Comet GT. I am going to a junk yard tomorrow to find some panels for it. The bad part is that there are only Mavericks at the yard and no comets. The hood on my car is bent and I was wondering if I could take the hood scoop off of my Gt hood and put it on a standard Maverick hood (not a grabber)? It’s fine if I have to drill holes.

I also need to get a driver side door. Will a Maverick door work and what year models will fit?

Pretty much every part is interchangeable between the two. Yes you can put the hood scoop on a maverick hood and it will look fine. But if you do that you will need to swap to a maverick front bumper to keep the right look. The comet front bumper looks good with the comet hood. The doors will interchange no problem. The only thing to keep in mind is the earlier doors do not have the correct door handles for a 73. So you will either have to find 73+ doors or swap them both.

I was planning on doing the small front bumper swap from a 72 comet.
Is it still best to go with a 72 small front bumper from a maverick or does is matter if it is from a comet?
And for the small front bumper swap do you have to get the valence from that year model to match and does it bolt right up?

If you do tbe Maverick hood you'll need the grill too, Comet grill would extend past the front of the Mav hood. Once you've done that you will want the Mav bumper or it will look goofy.

If you are using a maverick hood then it just looks awkward with a comet bumper. You will need to grab the correct lower valence, the stone guard, the support and a maverick grill. You will have to drill a few holes for the bumper to work on a 73
