My green car below has a mid-80s Mustang GT scoop and it is only 2 inches tall. Been looking at Comet GT scoops myself.

From what I have been able to determine going by measurements provided in an eBay auction, Comet GT scoops are right at 3 inches high. The guy might have been rounding off the numbers, too. For your application, it sounds like that might be a tight fit.

Someone who has one in-hand might be able to give better info.

I just measured my factory scoop and it is 2.5 inches in the middle. Of course it tapers down slightly towards the outside and back. - Matt

Looked at bit at my scoop, and I'd say it's about 2 inches between the hood and the scoop..

its not the hight you need to worry about, its the width. with an I6 the carb is off to the side so if you plan on centering the scoop you need to have one wide enough to get over the I6 carb. the GT scoop just barly gets over the stock 1bbl. the advantage to the 429 is that its much wider then the GT

i'll just go with the 429 then
i guess it'll have a hotrod look:cool: with the 429 plus i can get it cheaper than a gt scoop.
