I have a 72 Comet which now has dual exhaust. I've installed Monroe Matic plus rear shocks. When I go over a decent dip or bump in the road the chasis comes down and hits the exhaust on both sides. I would like to find an adjustable shock that would stiffen the situation up and prevent this from happening. Problem is that most of the adjustable shocks work(stiffen) on the return side and not much if none on the compression side (where I am having the issues). If I went to an air shock I would wind up raising up the rear of the car and I really don't want that look. Does anyone have any advise with this?

Air shocks on these cars will eventually have U trying to repair the upper shock mounts. They are noted for ripping them from the frame. Maybe you have a spring issue!
