I have always wondered how close a big Pinto front bumper was to a big Maverick front bumper. I took some pictures to compare the two.

Pinto bumper is on top of the Maverick bumper.

The Pinto bumper is not as wide, but has pretty much the same shape. The Pinto bumper also does not have the two nostrils in it like the Maverick Bumper.

If one were wanting to section and narrow a Maverick bumper so it doesn't stick out as far on the ends....one might be better off just getting a Pinto bumper.

If you are interested....I have the rechromed Pinto bumper for sale on ebay here:

looks like it may work,....when I sectioned my 77's I took 5 inches out total (2 1/2 each side) .thats the max you can remove and still get it to fit. the pinto bumper looks close, and would most likely work well.

That sounds like a good alternative to the Fairmont/Zephyr bumper swap we talked about a few weeks ago. But the Pinto bumper may better fit the lines of a Maverick. (y)

Is this from a similar year, that Pinto Bumper looks more like a '73 Maverick bumper comparatvely.

When I started my project I looked very hard at the 79-80 pinto bumper (aluminum). Stayed with the stock stuff because radmav was doing small bumpers :D

Yes...I would say 1974 and up for both bumpers. Not sure when Pinto went to the aluminum bumper.
