Has anyone ever used this roll bar http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CEE-3039-K/? I was wondering about the fit, also curious if the pipes coming down from the top are necessary. I don't want them as I would like to keep my rear seat functional because my car is a 4 door(would be stupid to have a 4 door you cant put people in the back). After taking my car to the track I realize I'm probably going to go 11.50 next year and would like to be prepared.
in my experience you will save money by finding a local shop that can bend up the cage for you. the shipping on cages is high. as for the back bars, they are necessary to be nhra legal roll bar. now they dont have to be straight. you can have some made that will follow the roof line and bend down by the back pillars and go through the package tray. just another reason to find a local shop to custom bend up a cage for you.
The only bar needs to be bent would be the main rear hoop. All the rest of the bars are straight anyway. If you were closer, I would bend up a main hoop for you
Can the hoop be bent with a pipe bender from harbor freight or does it need to be done with a mandrel bender? I have one of the cheapy pipe benders, and I like making stuff, if its allowed I'd like to make my own.
The benders from Harbor Freight are for conduit only which are thicker and measured on the inner diameter - my tubing bender is built for roll bar tubing which is measured on the outer diameter. If you put roll bar tubing into a conduit bender, you will kink it on the bends A lot of shops build race cars in Virginia - I would find a shop that can handle roll bar tubing and see what they will charge for the main hoop - the straight bars you should be able to ctreat yourself
Ok thanks, thought I'd ask cause I'm cheap. I found this earlier, it's a 4 door falcon with a roll bar that doesn't have the bars going to the rear. Do you think he put it in for cosmetic reasons or does this look legit
