Hello I want to have less stuff in Engine Bay. I looked at many images in Internet and engine bay looks nice shiny and clean. After I look on my engine bay it looks like crap. I want to remove whole A/C installation. Every part I want to plug out from a car when is not necessary just to heating. Just I need a info which parts to disassemble. Also want to remove smog pump installation. Same I need to know what can be unmounted. Can you tell me what can I take off from car to get some extra free space in engine bay except a/c and smog pump, coz they definitely go out? I was using search option but it can't find thread on removing a/c in v8 car. Car: Comet v8 '75 2dr. If you need more images just let me know.
It looks like you A/C compressors already been removed. Just remove the lines and expansion valve at the firewall, dont worry about the evaporator it doesn't add much weight.
I have to agree with what has already been said. It looks like a lot of the stuff has already been removed. I think a general cleaning, painting, detailing, and organization would tidy up the engine compartment and make it look fantastic.
"Just remove the lines and expansion valve at the firewall, dont worry about the evaporator it doesn't add much weight." Can you circle this on pohotos what i have to remove? Btw. to take off mount a/c compresor radiator must be unbolted and fan right?
take everything off, clean/paint then reinstall...:Handshake here is a 6 cyl. we did in just a few hours... post #13 http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=81852&page=2
Ok what about this Hose and Item whit "AS" letters? its for? I think it comes from smog pump right? so if its to take off, how to plug the hole in the ends of hoses?
Dave sorry its imageshack; btw. I dont see any popups. I m using firefox + adblock plus and no more pop ups and commercials
Ok, You have one hell of a mess here. If you want to remove the rest of the a/c stuff. The condenser is in front of the radiator, along with the drier. Looks like the lines are already gone for the a/c. The Vacuum hoses for sure can be lessened. (But without being there it is hard to tell which Vacuum hose goes where. So be careful.) I am just trying to help, I may be wrong with what I am telling you. As these are just pics of the car and it is very hard to see what goes where. So this is my warning. First I don't see the point with the water hoses with the T valve. (Green). The Vacuum lines could be removed depending on where they are leading too? (Red) Smog Pump Remove (Red) Part of the smog pump. Remove line, plug hard line. (Red) Remove Brackets. Ac compressor is gone so is the lines already. (Green) I take it these are water lines? (Blue) Smog pump lines. Remove. (Red) Brackets Remove. (Green)
has any one mentioned the missing spring tower braces..... id worry about them b4 removing anything....
yep, you wouldn't want to remove a heater hose and have your motor collapse through to the ground...... ......
Its ok i take off them just to get better way to make images and to refresh them whit new paint . after i take off all parts from a/c and smog i will ofc. instal them back. What abut egr also is unneeded in this engine?
Car is in Europe so I really dont care about smog control or emission in US. And i dont need to pass anything like that.
