For some reason My computer won`t display certian pics and videos. I have Vista operating system on my conputer. For example , when someone posts a U tube video here on the forum I dont get the "still shot" picture in the 4"x4" square like I use to. INSTEAD I get a blank square with a very small Icon in the upper left corner that looks like a colorful picture of something (too small to tell). Also on other web sites I get the same "Icon" instead of seeing some pictures or videos. Can anyone help me?
This is one of those things that I can fix in 5 minutes if I was there looking at your computer, but doing it long-distance can take hours! First, do like Faceless says. Make sure your flash and other multimedia players are up to date. Did you recently upgrade to Internet Explorer version 8? It may have reset your settings to a higher security setting. Also, try to download Mozilla Firefox if you cannot get Internet Explorer working. It may just be the security settings blocking stuff. Open internet explorer, hit TOOLS at the top, and OPTIONS, and pull the slider down to one less restrictive click and see if your stuff starts to work. Let us know when it works or we will keep throwing suggestions at you...
I first tried adjusting the security settings ,that didn`t do it. Then I went to Adobe.com and reloaded Flash player (newest version). That Fixed it ! Thanks alot for the help guys!2thumbs:
glad it was a simple fix... same subject, different computer...mine crashed 2 days ago. Jeff came down yesterday and dumped/reinstalled everything for me... 6 Hrs. thanks Jeff You-Da-Man...:Handshake
I cannot argue with this opinion when it comes from a guy who lives in a house FULL of feminine sides. hmmm... I wonder if these jeans make my butt look big?:16suspect
Actually, the correct answer, and the one you only say if you want to die a slow horrible death, is "No, Honey. You're butt makes those jeans look big." Again, I caution you not use that answer if want to live. The best response is to get up and leave the house for a couple of hours.
Hmm have you ever tried using some of the remote access programs? Like I have Teamviewer 4 on all of my inlaws computers then I can fix their computer from my desk and I dont have to deal with them smoking around the baby.......yes the baby I am referring to is me.....I mean my son. I have used it to fix several puters for guys in our gaming clan or for people on my wifes forums. I just have to call them up or use yahoo or something like that and get the access code from the program on their screen so I can plug it into my puter, then when I am done they just delete teamviewer and dont have to worry about any security issues, but the code changes every time the program is shut down so if they wanted to leave it on I still could not access it. I use it because it is free for everyone that uses it as long as it is not used in a corporate setting. There are some better programs out there but they cost money so i tend to stick with this for most people http://www.teamviewer.com/download/
Nope, never used it, but saving that link to favorites right now. I never wanted to buy any software to do that, but since this one is free, I will give it a try with my grandmother's computer. That is my worst long-distance-fix nightmare...
Both downloads were less than 2M, so won't take forever to email the program to the other user! Can't wait to try it out!!!
