    Hey guys,
Here is a concept paint job I just put together. Spent a few hours on it. All the white in the picture (besides the windows of course) are gonna be either chrome or gold. I got the bug bad to get a maverick.

Also just an FYI I will probably be getting the 71 Maverick thats for sale on here. And eventually swap out the I-6 for the 302 V-8. :burnout:

Let me know what yall think of the paint scheme!

good to see you looking for your 1st mav. as for the paint---- it's not my first choice. it looks very busy and not flowing with the cars lines. it shows that you spent alot of time but in my opinion i would keep sketching. good luck with the purchase

    Resistance is futile...
    You will be assimilated!

Honestly, I think your painter is going to be cussing loudly when it comes time to lay out the stripes and tape everything up.

I also have been doing some drawing to figure out how I want my car to look. It does become time consuming quickly! Here's a link to a thread that will help with pictures you can print out and use instead of drawing the car out every time:

As for the gold plating on the car, I have a question:

Is the car going to be a show car that is never driven or a daily driver?

If it's going to be a show car that is locked in a garage and never driven, then the gold will be ok.

If it's going to be sitting unattended while parked for any time what so ever, stick with chrome so some crack head won't decide to take the gold plated parts off your car to get their next fix.

I think you're making the right choice here. You'll be much happier not having to worry about if it'll be road legal or not when it's finished for your first Maverick build!

There are a few mistakes on the sketch, but I'll get them fixed. As far as it not flowing with the lines, I am assuming your talkin about the "bump" in the rear over the fender well. That will be stretched out to flow with the cars bump right there. The two vertical lines that suround the door are only there to show where the door is, those wont be chrome or anything. Im going to be working on a few more. One will be identical but the red stripes on the top of the car will be taken off.

I would make the red stripe come to a point on the hood instead of flaring out. Ditch the stripe over the roof, and the upside down triangle on the lid. Ditch the red area behind the quarter window, and get rid of the 2 humps in the line on the side of the car, just make it a straight line coming to a point towards the back of the car. Ditch the lower red line.

Here is another concept of the paint job. I got rid of all red on top and the lower red stripe I think it looks pretty good!

I think you need to get rid of the red on the pillar and when you make it swirly at the back make it straight and follow body lines

All those graphics would probably look pretty cool done in a fogged style on a nostalgia type drag car.
