Ran across a consolette and I don’t even know how much I paid for it. The guy had a bunch of parts he wanted cleared out of his garage and didn’t want to fool with parting them all out. Short story, I ended up buying the whole lot. I got a couple fenders, deck lid, several sets of rear lights and a box of parts of this and that. Most of the parts I can’t use, not even sure what’s all there. I’ll pick up the rest of the parts and catalogue them, clean them up and pass them on. Thought I would post pics of the consolette, pretty happy with it!

Pretty cool find - I wouldn't mind finding one of these some day for display purposes but it just doesn't fit in with my build :)

That's interesting, in the sales brochure they show them in that color, but I've only ever seen black, and maybe one other one that color....

I had one that was the ruby red. I also thought that somebody had just painted it....and did an excellent job at that. But now I am thinking that the early 1970's might have had matching consolettes to match the interior. This post might just confirm that.

I'll post pics of the rest of the parts soon. Looks like it came out of an LDO four door car. To me, it appears to be a factory color, I see no signs of re-spray. I’ll have to look but I believe there were other parts with the same interior color.

I've seen them in the ad for an LDO, so I bet you are right, and it came from that. What is also interesting is that there is some sort of appliqué to the lid and around the clock that the any other consolette i have seen don't have. I would guess it used to be "woodgrain" to match the dash insert on the LDO. Pretty cool!

It also has a key lock instead of the more common non-locking pushbutton.

So get this, the top is leather (Leather!). It had a sued finish, I broke off a piece and looked at it up close. When you bend the material you can see the fine hairs. That’s pretty wild!!

You show apply power to the clock to see if it works. If it does what a score!

So I washed a piece of the material and not so sure it's actual cowhide. Hard to say, I'll wait to see what it looks like when fully dried.

When I got to the office this morning I jumped under the dash to see if I could find the wiring harness, it’s not there, unless its tucked way up under there somehow.

I've got a black console like that, but mine doesn't have the clock in it. Very cool!
