You could use an aftermarket shifter with a cable, cut a hole in the floor, bolt it down and hook up the shifting cable.

You could even get a cheap 3 sp manual shifter and connect it to the shift linkage - you would need to install the transmission mounted neutral start switch. (the half round one that comes on the early & floorshift trannys)

This post doesn't look too old, so I'll chime in and maybe get Paul to set me straight(y)

I have 76 Mavs, and was intending on putting '77 Granada floor shifters in them. Both the Mavs and Granadas have 250s w/ c4 so my assumption is that they will slide right in with no alterations other than holes in my floor!!!

The transmission linkage is not the same on a "floor shift" tranny as it is on the "column shift" tranny. Sometimes you can get around this by reversing the lever at the tranny. This will require that you drain the tranny and remove the valve body to get at the linkage nut. While you have the valve body out put a TransGo 40-2 kit in it. You will swear that you have a hotrod after that. (the 40-2 is for 70 and later transmissions)

If you are going to use the Granada transmissions and shifters it should be as close to a bolt-in as anything can be.

    Paul,
Several months ago I stumbled onto the TransGo 40-2 kit., Have kit in hand, transmission cleaned up, and have started a very orderly teardown....valve body is out, cleaned, and ready for kit.(y)

Unfortunatly, I have been hounding the kids to keep the livingroom cleaned up, and I think one of them threw away my shift kit instructions. I have turned the place upside down:(

If anyone has a set of instructions for the 40-2 (valve body B), and could e-mail them to me I would be very greatfull. I'll be trying to get a set from the manufacture as well.

I ran into this exact same problem last night. I have instructions on the way. Email me directly if you don't get them and I will email you some photos of the instruction sheets.

P.S. spent an hour on-line "googling" last night to see if somebody had them posted anywhere...no luck.

    Transgo Instructions

Sorry for hijacking this forum, but it seem's dead???

At any rate, I found transgo on the net, called them, and they are supposed to be e-mailing me a copy as I type.(y)

    Hope it works.

    It worked

If you still need the 40-2 instructions, I now have them on pdf., and am printing them as I type.

Would not make a very good fax, as they are photo detail intense.

At any rate, I have 'em if you don't get your copy soon. Just PM me!!!

I haven't used the TransGo kit for a while but if you still need the instructions I probably have a set laying around in my archive file cabinet. Do you have a type 1 or type 2 valve body? If the filter holds the spring and check valve in place it is a type 2. They use different instructions and different parts as I recall.
