i was wondering how hard it would be to convert a mav to a convertable? Im guessing that the right year mustang power top assembly would work but i bet someone here has already looked into it.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
the other day i actually saw one actually converted:49: me and my dad were on the freeway and we saw a maverick convertable
i have him as my witness-and he has owned like 5 mavs
it wasnt primed or painted so we saw them places were it was welded it didnt look like if they did a good job
we tried to contact the driver with waves and stuff but he never looked
and it wasnt another car it had the grabber hood and the mav emblem on the grille -and the mav rear lights-the windows seemed to be off a falcon or pony
that was an awesome car i might set off and try to find it

I have ran it through my head many times over the years.
I think the way to go would be to marry the front portion of a 2 door with the rear clip of a 4 door. The 4 dr's rear deck and quarters would lend itself well to Mustang 'vert parts that would be needed to complete the details.
I have seen a Mav or two with the tops hacked off and called convertible, but they look horrible with the 2 door body done this way. The rear deck slopes upward way too much to look natural... very awkward looking.
