do any of you have any torque converter tips ive been threw 3 now 2 custom converters and 1 tci the customs lasted 2 years and the tci lasted 3 months im tired of spending $ on converters that wont last im running a c4 with a b&m shift kit my engine is making around 450hp on spray
talk to a company like continetal conveters. i belive they will rebuild there conveters for very little expence or for free. they build top of the line converters and should be able to build one that will work for you.
I've used 3 convertors from Hughes in Phoenix and never had a failure yet. I have had to have the front snout replaced due to damage when my tranny blew. I've had 2 3500's and a 4500 that I use in the race car.
You need a top of the line converter to deal with the "hammering" that takes place with nitrous. Hughes is one of the best -as long as you select the appropriate converter for your application. Talk to the tech folks and let them know how much of your power is from the nitrous. Tell them you have had three failed converters to date and you want one that will last. I would recommend the Pro IV or Pro V series without knowing anything more than what you have told us about your car - they may make other recommendations based on more information.
what fails? I`ve been told bringing up rpms (loading) on the converter and not moving car will damage fins,,,
thanks guys and dkstuck i keep breaking the sprag gear but you can bend fins if the converter is over powered
there is a difference between a stall converter and a nitrous converter. my friend owns a trans shop. nitrous converters are built different. they arent built for stalling like a normal stall is
