Anybody know what the correct color bulbs are for the 1972 Grabber Sport Lights in the grill?? I know the lenses are clear but did they come from the factory with yellow bulbs or clear bulbs? Dan
Sports Lights I'm pretty sure they are supposed to be the amber bulbs. Until I replaced the lenses on mine, you couldn't tell: -Doug
nice photo there at the gas staion nice car too... where the heck to they have pumps like that these days?
The Texaco Museum My car was sitting at the pumps of the Texaco Museum in downtown Knightstown, Indiana. (Just a little ways south of New Castle, where our national meet has been held for the last 2 years). -Doug P.S. I was going to use this picture for the post above, but you just can't see the bulbs as well! Ha!
Hey doug their suppose to be clear. This was Ford's febble attemt and driving lights in the early 70's. In the later years they used them for turn signals.
hey dab, what wheels are thoughs on your grabber? are they from a granada? they look pretty neat on there..
Wheels Yes. They are originally off of a '77 Granada. However, I got them off of my '71 Comet parts car and put them on the Grabber. (I also got the 289 that's rebuilt and in my Grabber from the Comet). -Doug
A tip to get those sport lamps to work better, the 73-74 turn signals have a chrome reflector unlike the painted ones on the sport lamps this makes the lights hit the ground.
Light for decoration Actually, the sports lamps on both of my '72 Grabbers are inoperable. I'll have to replace the relays (hidden in the driver's kickpanel in the cars) to get them to work. As to reflectance, I painted the inside of the lights with Eastwood's chrome paint. They really are for decoration only, though. (Incidentally, both Grabbers were sold to me with the amber bulbs in th Sports Lamps). -Doug
Mine don't work either - not sure if it was the previous owner hacking up the wiring harness or the relay - how to you test it??? By coincidence I just took off the kick panel last night in my car to run a rear defogger and noticed it back there. Had no idea what it was until now ... Thanks
Answer FYI - just received an NOS 71-72 Grabber Sport lamp assembly in the box. It came with a clear bulb. Dan
I have a pair of NOS ones. They both came with amber bulbs. In all my years of messing around with Mavericks and owning several Grabbers...I have only seen Amber bulbs in the grill driving lights.
