Could someone please post a picture of the correct type of lug nut for the Slotted wheels offered in 73 and 76. Just ordered a set and want to get the correct hardware ... THanks .. If anyone else is interested I think they may have one or two more sets for a Maverick. Fully restored to factory fresh and delivered for $840 - no centers ... I thought that was expensive until I picked up a nice Mustang set for $450 only to find out that the center hole was too small and would have to be machined plus each wheel still needed to be redone to be perfect. Would have cost well over $1,000 in the end ....
Re: Lug Nuts I have the slotted wheels on my '74 Comet GT. They were on it when I got it back in '84. I took them off and they had sat on a shelf for 17 years until I cleaned them up this year. The lug nuts that I have are the original ones, but they are a bit rusty. I went with an aftermarket set, they are about 2/3 the size in length of the factory lugs, but they were the closest thing that I could find. They are Pacer brand that I bought to replace the originals. I was missing a center cap for years, I even purchased some at swap meets for the Maverick in the event that I never found one with a Mercury emblem, which I eventually did. I even bought a NOS set of the Mustang center caps in case I needed to swap emblems later, but didn't need them-sold them for $350+ for the set. I can send a pic of the lugs and would be interested in selling the maverick caps that I have if you are interested. I believe that I have 2 or 3 of them. Thanks - I already have 6 NOS Maverick centers that have been waiting for about 8 years to be put on a nice set of rims. I'll finally be putting them to use. Please send picture of the lug nut to: dmhines@mac.com Thanks - Dan
