Still piddling with this car,but need a bit of advice. On my car, everything looks great. Before I replaced the fusebox,I had the same problem. When the headlight switch is plugged in,the markers and taillights, the front markers, and the parklights and the dash lights are always on. Removed brake light switch connector,so as to rule that out, still on. I can turn on the dome light, turn it off. Headlights work normal, and have a new dimmer switch. Whats weird is I can use the dash light dimmer to dim all park and running, taillights, and turn them off. If I turn the dimmer up,they all get brighter... Can't turn them off until I dim them all the way down, disconnect the HL switch,or pull the battery cable... I keep thinking buy a switch, but wanna hear from y'all before i pull the trigger... Thanks,Skip...
Check the plug on the HL switch for any melted spots? Or wires with melted insulation? I dont think all the running lights running off the HL switch dimming circuit would be good.....might build up some heat in a short time. Of course, could be HL switch too.
Truly odd,and I been messing with anything that moves since I was 12-13ish... Never seen one dim the lights with the dimmer... Redone fusebox thinking may be something to do with it,along with relocating it and having blade and maxifuses... Ain't in the wires... Gotta be the only thing left, the switch... Replaced or replacing everything on this car,I guess a switch too...
One wire at a time,I used a 97 mustang main fuse box I relocated under the hood. Too old and stiff to stand on my head with gumby arms and change those glass fuses. And throughout the years messing with old cars, the fuseboxes were a major headache... Now I have fuses, relays, and maxifuses on the pass side by the hood hinge. I even have extras, many extras in case of adding additional accessories. Fan,headlights, fog are on relays now. Maxifuses for high amp draw items... No less than a small nightmare, but all in a nice sealed box... The problem with the park/running lights was there before the fuse box change... They're just proud of that switch, and I've spent so much already, with new glass and rubber, and suspension pieces,I gotta build up some more$$...
